The Goddess columbia was the first female figure to represent the United States and its values.  Liberty, freedom and progress. She was a common symbol from the Colonial era until the 20th century.  She carries a sword, and olive branch and a trumpet, her foot on a cannonball. Metaphors for Justice, Peace and Victory.
